As spring approaches, Ventura County is beginning to buzz with preparation for a number of yearly events.
The 27th Annual Spring Arts & Crafts Festival at Borchard Community Center in Newbury Park is among the more popular of these. This year's festival is slated for Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, serving as an occasion to mark the near-end of winter and to greet the spring.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, visitors can browse the wares of more than 100 craftspeople and artisans. Children are welcome to attend, as there will be a hands-on activity area in which they can make their own art and crafts.
The event, which also features food vendors, is free to the public. Borchard Community Center is located at Borchard Park, which consists of picnic areas, tennis and basketball courts, three softball fields, a soccer field and a sand volleyball court, among other amenities.
