Why Reviewing Your Policies Regularly Is Important
Many people pledge to go to the gym more or eat healthier when the New Year rolls around, but what they should really have as their New Year's resolution is a goal to review their insurance policies. Life is always changing, often in major ways which can affect the type of coverage you need. An annual review can help prevent any gaps in coverage. Here are some questions to ask your insurance agent as you review your policies.
- Does your policy provide enough coverage to rebuild your home? Outdated policies may not give you the protection you need. Construction costs change, building standards may have been updated or new upgrades might increase your home's value. By going over the estimated costs you can make sure your home is properly insured.
- Do you need extended coverage for valuables? If you suddenly were bequeathed some family heirlooms or you recently purchased a piece of art, you may want to ask your insurance provider whether those items ae covered under your standard policy or whether you need an extended policy. If an item is extremely valuable, you may even need a separate policy for that item.
- Do you qualify for discounts? Saving money when it comes to insurance is never a bad thing. There may be new discounts out there, or older discounts that you now qualify for. You never know the money you could be saving unless you ask your agent about the possible discounts that you may qualify for.
What better time than the start of the New Year to review your policies and make sure your coverage does not have any gaps.
