The Best Burger Recipe For Labor Day Weekend
Last week, we gave you a guide to grilling safely over Labor Day. You may still be stumped about what exactly to grill, though. Do not worry! For a delicious take on an American classic, grill up this Labor Day burger that is sure to wow your friends and family. To whip up two of them, you will need.
- 6 slices of bacon
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 cup of dry bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes
- Freshly ground pepper
- ½ cup of shredded Colby Jack cheese
- Cooking spray
- 2 slices of Colby Jack cheese
- 2 tomato slices
- 2 slices of avocado
- 2 hamburger buns
Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high, flipping it occasionally. Cook until browned but not fully crispy (about 8 minutes). Transfer the bacon to paper towels to drain and reserve 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bacon drippings, bread crumbs, red pepper flakes, and pepper to taste. Divide into four potions and shape into large, thin patties. Divide the shredded Colby Jack in half and sprinkle onto two of the patties. Put the other two patties on top of the cheese-covered ones and press the edges together. Place these two cheese-stuffed patties in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill.
Spray your grill grate and preheat your grill to high. Put your burgers on the grill and then turn it to low, closing the lid. Cook the burgers for ten minutes each side at 300 degrees F, or until the cheese has melted and the edges are slightly charred. After you flip the burgers for the first time, put three slices of bacon on each patty.
Two minutes before the burgers are done, top each patty with a slice of Colby Jack. Once done, let the burgers rest for a couple of minutes, then top with tomato and avocado, sandwich between buns, and dig in!
