No matter which team you root for, you can be a winner at Super Bowl 2014 by celebrating safely. Here are a few tips to guide you before, during and after the big game.
1) Don’t risk driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. You know the serious legal consequences, no doubt. But did you know that the typical DUI offense, without any injuries or serious property damage, can still cost up to $10,000 in fines and legal fees?
2) Pick a designated driver, if you drive to a party where alcohol will be served. Remember, beyond the dangers of driving under the influence, the roads will be filled with other drivers returning home from Super Bowl parties. Have someone alert and sober behind the wheel.
3) Chill before you grill. For tailgating and grilling safety, remember to handle food carefully. Keep cold foods cold in a cooler packed with ice, and use a meat thermometer to make sure grilled meats reach at least 140 degrees before serving.
4) Get up and move around. The combination of football, epic commercials and the half-time show means four to five hours of uninterrupted TV viewing. Keep your circulation moving by getting up and walking around for a few minutes every hour.
